Urology team first in NHS to use latest robot for prostate cancer surgery
The event brought together leaders from construction, healthcare, and business to support UHL Charity, Clatterbridge Cancer Charity and Women’s Hospital Charity, and this year’s event surpassed expectations by raising an incredible £89,000, soaring past the firm’s original £75,000 target.
The evening was especially moving as Sutcliffe’s Communications Director, Jacqui Johnson, shared her personal journey with breast cancer, having received her diagnosis just five days after attending the 2024 ball. Her courage in sharing her story added emotional weight to the night, highlighting the importance of investing in cancer treatment and care.
Geraldine Mitchell, Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon and Deputy Medical Director for Surgery at the Royal, said: “We are thrilled to be the beneficiaries of this amazing donation from Sutcliffe. The money raised will help us invest in state-of-the-art equipment, including a 3D mammography machine. Being able to grant faster reporting, to exclude cancer more quickly and reassure patients with normal results, is invaluable.”
Auction highlights included a luxury seven-night stay in Portugal and rare signed sporting memorabilia, which helped generate tremendous generosity from guests, sponsors, and supporters.
